Scott Plear Studio

A proposal to donate a painting to Langara college has been accepted.

It is called Big Bam Boo and is 101" x 109" in size.

Langara Library, Vancouver, Teeple Architects

It is now hanging in the north-west corner of the new Library at Langara College. This blog report shows the stretching and hanging of the painting.

The stretching of Big Bam Boo:

The stretcher is 101" x 109" and is made of red cedar for lightness and strength. It is also collapsible in order to get it through a standard door.

Here is the stretched in preparation for having the canvas placed on top for stretching as seen below.

The installing of Big Bam Boo:

Here is a tabloid of images showing the installing of Big Bam Boo in the library at Langara College. Many thanks to Scott Stuart, Kurt Babcock and his crew.

Here is the painting stretched.

A heavy-duty tube is placed across the canvas where it will be folded. This prevents any possibility of cracking or creasing of the paint.

This is how the painting looked folded over.

The painting is upright and secured with bungee cords and strapping and is ready for shipping.

Here the painting arrives at Langara in the back of my van with my wife riding shot-gun.

The painting has been re-opened and ready to be installed.

The painting as it now looks on the north-west wall of Langara's new library from the ground floor.

Here is the view of the painting from the second floor.
