Painting is so complex. It is important to keep it direct and clear, yet rich and intricate. For it to have value, painting needs to tap into deeper, often unnameable feelings.

These pictures are the current yield of a life’s work of getting to the essence of what painting is about. To achieve that, one needs to drill down to try to reach the core of it — thus the title of this show, Core Samples: samples from an expedition to push one’s painting to greater depths and higher expressions, never being quite certain if and when one will hit pay dirt.
